Madeline Stevens is a writer from Boring, Oregon currently based in Los Angeles. Her first novel Devotion is forthcoming from Ecco Press and Faber in the UK in August 2019. Pitched as Sweetbitter meets The Perfect Nanny, Devotion follows broke 26-year-old Ella Crawford as she becomes a nanny for a rich and beautiful Upper East Side couple. Ella’s initial resentment of the young mother morphs into a dangerous obsession in this psychologically propulsive debut. The novel has also been pre-empted by Hanserblau in Germany, Mondadori in Italy, 2020 in Portugal, Planeta in Mexico, and CITIC in China. Madeline holds an MFA from Columbia University and her work has been published in a variety of literary magazines. She teaches creative writing to adults and children through Catapult and Writopia Lab.
